I became a science writer because it combines my interest in science and innovation with my love of the written word. No one could have told me, when I set out to become a science writer in 1982, what a wonderful career it would turn out to be. Not only am I constantly learning new things, I have the incredible opportunity to meet and interview scientists across a wide spectrum of disciplines. In the process of writing about science, I also have the privilege of meeting many people whose lives have been touched by scientific advances, including people who themselves have diseases and their family members. For details on the path I took to become a science writer, see my resume.
